Profile

Prof Chee is one of the renowned senior physicians in the field of general medicine in Singapore. He was TTSH’s Chairman of Medical Board for two terms: 1991 – 1993, and 2000 – 2003 and Master of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore 1998 – 2000.

Aside from his portfolio as past GCEO, NHG and Senior Consultant in Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Prof Chee also holds numerous other positions. He is Clinical Professor of Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine of the National University of Singapore; Visiting Consultant to the Institute of Mental Health; a member of the Singapore Ministry of Health’s Director of Medical Services office, among others. In 2005, Prof Chee chaired Singapore’s Dengue Fever National Taskforce. He currently is the Chairman at the Agency for Clinical Effectiveness (ACE), Ministry of Health, Chairman, National GP Advisory Panel, AIC, MOH, and Chairman, ACTRIS (Advanced Cell Therapy Research Institute of Singapore), MOH. He serves on the Independent Review Panel of the Ministry of Home Affairs & on the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine Review Panel for its Programme Evaluation.

Prof Chee is known for his role in steering NHG clinical leadership, recruitment and clinical quality. In 2006, he received the Public Administration Gold Medal; and also received the Public Service Medal for volunteering his medical expertise after completing his National Service. In 1991, he received the Public Administration Silver Medal.

Prof Chee received his MBBS degree from the University of Singapore in 1973 and postgraduate diplomas Master of Medicine (Internal Medicine) (Singapore) and MRCP (UK). He was subsequently elected to Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians of London, Edinburgh and Glasgow, the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and the American College of Chest Physicians. He is also Honorary Fellow of the American College of Physicians and the College of Family Physicians, Singapore. In 2020 he was conferred Honorary Membership of the Singapore Medical Association.
